Samplr

Privacy Policy

Last updated June 2026

Samplr is built to work entirely on your device. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.

What Samplr does not do

  • Samplr does not upload your recordings, edits, or exports anywhere. All audio processing happens locally in your browser.
  • Samplr does not request microphone access. It only records the audio output of the browser tab you choose to capture.
  • Samplr does not require an account to record, trim, preview, or export audio — every free feature works with no sign-up at all. An account is only needed to purchase Samplr Pro (see "Accounts and purchases" below).
  • Samplr does not include analytics, trackers, or third-party scripts inside the extension itself.

Where your recordings are stored

Recordings are stored locally in your browser's storage (IndexedDB), tied to your browser profile on your device. Uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's site data for the extension will remove this data. Samplr has no way to access, back up, or recover it remotely, because it never leaves your machine in the first place.

Accounts and purchases

usesamplr.app (this website) handles Samplr Pro purchases and is separate from the extension's local-only recording/editing. Signing in only requires an email address — there are no passwords, and we use it solely to send a one-time sign-in link and to remember whether you've purchased Pro. Payment is processed entirely by Polar, our payment processor — Samplr never receives or stores your card details. Once you're signed in, the Samplr extension can connect to this account (via the popup's Settings tab) to unlock Pro features; this only shares your sign-in session and Pro status with the extension, never your recordings, which still never leave your device.
